The SHIMANO SLX BL-M7120 brake is designed for reduced weight and AM / Enduro specific braking performance and provides a lot of safety thanks to intuitive modulation.
The disc brake system with double-diameter caliper design and counter-rotating pistons has front and rear pistons of different sizes. The system includes a power transmission system in which the brake disc is pushed by the smaller piston at the inlet of the brake disc retainer and also by the stronger, larger piston at the rear. This prevents the brake disc from vibrating and significantly reduces noise.
The four-piston caliper increases the contact area with the brake disc while keeping the size compact. The position of the pads is precisely adjusted to stabilize the pressure. In addition, in combination with the SERVOWAVE brake lever, an incredible 50% more braking force is achieved than with the predecessor model. The advanced SAINT/ZEE disc brake system can be adapted to the driver's braking habits and generates an even, excellently controllable braking force.
The SERVOWAVE brake lever takes up a lot of braking distance at the beginning of its movement so that the pads can be guided to the brake disc with a short lever travel. After the brake pad has been applied, the power transmission factor increases rapidly. The greater part of the lever travel is thus still available to increase the braking force and to dose it more precisely.
Fading of the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. SHIMANO has introduced brake discs and pads with ICE TECHNOLOGIES to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake disc has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure around an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces, for example, a surface temperature of 400 ˚C on 300˚C. There is also a cooling fin on the brake lining. The design of the disc in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pad, less braking noise, less fading and a lower weight.
The brake lever is equipped with a handle width adjustment. This allows the handle to adapt to the size of the driver's hand, driving style or personal preferences.
I-SPEC EV creates a clean, optimized cockpit layout that helps more drivers achieve greater concentration and flexibility. Thanks to the larger adjustment range, different drivers will find their optimal position - regardless of driving style, preferences and body type. The ergonomic design, faster lever access and smoother operation increase driving comfort and enhance concentration.
