With the Alfine Di2, Shimano has extended its first-class electronic shifting system to the urban sector. The system allows easy gear changes at the push of a button. A small, separately available servomotor on the gear hub is controlled by the gear lever and immediately initiates the shifting process. The electrical energy for this is supplied by the Di2 battery, which is available in various designs.
The Inter-11 hub has extended the total transmission ratio to 409%. For the Inter-8, this value is 307 %. In addition, the Inter-11's gears are closer together for a more comfortable and efficient cadence.
